Water storage tanks for fire protection are in high demand in both natural and industrial settings. In industrial facilities, these tanks play a critical role in fire safety as they provide the primary water supply to combat fires. In natural environments, they assist in suppressing forest fires, thereby protecting ecosystems and communities. The changing climate and the increasing importance of safety regulations have led to a growing demand for fire protection water storage tanks. NPI produces water tanks that are suitable for storing water for firefighting purposes.
NPI water tanks also serve fire protection needs in other settings, such as public facilities, agricultural operations, and residential areas. The installation of fire tanks is particularly necessary in high-risk areas such as petrol stations, oil depots, warehouses, hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and residential zones.
What are fire protection tanks?
Firefighting tanks are essential for ensuring the fire protection of a facility or area. They are installed when drawing water from the main supply is either economically unfeasible, technically impossible, or when the available volume is insufficient to extinguish a fire. Additionally, fire tanks are crucial in locations where access for firefighting vehicles is limited or challenging.
NPI fire protection tanks
NPI’s water storage systems are used worldwide in various settings for fire protection. Our water tanks are delivered as modular packages. The tank walls are made of MagiZinc® corrugated steel, assembled panel by panel and ring by ring. The interior of the tank is lined with a high-quality liner, ensuring that the tank is watertight and providing reliable water storage. The liner, along with its protective felt, also protects the steel structure.

Site preparation
Modular tanks used for fire protection are installed on a concrete foundation. The metal walls of the tank are then placed on this foundation. Our instruction guide provides clear details on how to set up the foundation for a fire protection water tank.
Installation process
Installing the metal walls is straightforward; it involves fastening bolts and nuts. The metal walls are lined with protective fleece, and the liner, custom-made for each project, is supplied with cord and clamp profiles as standard, as well as the effective Install+ fixing system. We can prefabricate outlets in the diameter of your choice and weld them in place at the desired location. The compact shipping and simple installation of the materials make our modular tanks very suitable for export and installation even in very hard-to-reach places.
Maintenance
In general, NPI tanks require minimal maintenance, but regular upkeep is important. This extends the lifespan of a water tank and ensures that it meets safety and performance standards. Proper monitoring and maintenance of the various tank components are crucial, as the tank plays a critical role in emergencies and must function correctly.
